DEAR FAMILY!!!!!!!!

IT IS GETTING HOOOOTTTT HERE! BAH! And it is humid. Hermana Draney  the other day was like, "Oh, just you wait."... Oh boy... I dont really like the hot. It is very cool in the mornings and it cools off at night so really i should count my blessings. Plus, the Gospel is true so that makes up for the heat and humidity.

Wow! General Conference was AWESOME! I really learned a lot from Conference. I feel like General Conference is the ultimate booster. You definitely see the things that you need to work on, but you know that you can do it because this Gospel is a Gospel of transformation. Oh how very important it is to be kind to everyone and to think about others. That is something that I have been trying to do better at. I try to think about others and what they need before myself. I read a talk recently from I believe it was 2009 Spring General Conference, but I really could be wrong. Anyways, it is a talk by Henry B. Eyring entitled "Adversity". This is what I learned, when we are going through adversity ourselves and we really, well, at least with me (at times), just wants to feel sorry for yourself and just stay at home and eat chocolate. Guess what, that is not why the Lord gives us Adversity. We need to look at it, and I admit it is very hard, as a chance to grow. I recently was given a blessing and in that blessing our loving Heavenly Father let me know that right now I do not know the "why" for all of this heart-ache, but I will find out. Elder Eyring goes on in his talk to talk about how sometimes we will be called to help others and lift them up. He told this story of a younger widow comforting an older widow. I am thankful for all my trials that the Lord has given and will give me, they are opportunities to become more compassionate, more loving, more patient.

Another thing that I learned from Conference is the importance of learning and understanding Christ's teachings. We are familiar with the many parables that He uses in teaching valuable lessons. One of my recent favorite parables that He teaches is when he is talking to Peter after His resurrection. He asks Peter, "Love me more than these?" I have been putting more of my desires on the table and giving them to the Savior because I really do love Him more than "these". When I think of this parable i think about the things of the world that we hold on to, it can be whatever you want, it is anything that is material, anything of this world that I believe He is talking about here. Hermana Draney and I have been working on being better at treasuring up things of a spiritual matter more then things that "moth and dust doth corrupt". I am so very thankful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and that we can change and can become more like Him.

I know that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored on the earth again. I know that the Book of Mormom is the word of God and another Testament of Jesus the Christ. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and through His mercy and His love we are never too far from His reach. He loves us! I know that My Redeemer lives! I love you all! Thank you so much for your prayers and your letters! I think of you often!

Love always, forever,
